Set Sail

Set Sail

When I think of sailing I immediately think of preppy to the max. I imagine well dressed men & women in navy blue blazers with gold buttons layered over crisp dress shirt or polos in the signature nautical colours of red, white or blue. They’re probably wearing cuffed khaki shorts and boat shoes, sitting on the deck and laughing over a bottle of Veuve Clicquot. The ladies may have foregone blazers for a cashmere navy cardigan thrown over their shoulders just in case the breeze on the water gets a little too chilly. Maybe a few nautical striped polo dresses, a sleek pair of ray bans, a delicate anchor pendant, the chicest pair of loafers. While this little dream my mind creates may be far from the reality of what sailing really is like.. doesn’t it sound fabulous? So of course when I got the opportunity to head out on the water and sail around Toronto Island friday night on a private chartered boat, with this vision in mind, I knew exactly what I was going to wear. After all, half the fun is dressing the part ;)!

It was a beautiful evening of sailing around the island, listening to music and drinking wine. We snacked on cheeses & charcuterie, plates of fresh veggies and fruit, and laughed the night away. I wasn’t able to snap many photos on the boat as the sun set shortly after we set sail, but it was an evening I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.. and as you can see below the view from the water was absolutely breathtaking!
