Champagne Brunch

Weekend brunches have become a ritual and my absolute favourite part of the week. There’s nothing better than spending hours catching up with friends over hot cups of coffee, croissants, poached eggs, avocado toast, and the occasional pastry in a beautiful little restaurant or cafe… which Toronto of course has no shortage of. This Sunday we traded in our coffee for champagne as we toasted to one of my closest friend’s 30th birthday at Soho House. We stuffed our faces with omelettes, sausages, crepes with Nutella and berry compote, smoked salmon, cheeses and charcuterie, and cinnamon poached pears topped with yoghurt and granola. We finished our brunch off by sharing the most delicious desserts and sweets. From lavender vanilla cakes to chocolate banana bread and cream filled pastries. We sat and ate for 3 hours, filling our plates and bellies, taking breaks to sip champagne, then filling our plates again. It was an indulgent brunch to say the least, and we loved every minute of it.

Knowing that a brunch buffet was on the menu that day I made sure to dress appropriately. And by that I mean clothes that stretch and have ample room in them. I honestly think one of the worst feelings in the world is being full in tight clothing. I bought this top recently at H&M and knew it was going to be the perfect top to hide those few too many desserts I was sure I was going to consume at brunch (FYI I did consume too many, and was thankful for this top). I absolutely love the loose fit of this crisp white off the shoulder blouse, and the bow details on the sleeves. It’s the kind of top that’s incredibly versatile and you can pair with so many different things. It would look great with a pair of cropped dress pants, tight skinny jeans, shorts, or even a pencil skirt. The skirt is also new from H&M. I typically tend to sway towards solid colours when it comes to skirts so it’s great to finally have something a little different in my closet.. and I love the feather print!
