Once again pastels are going to be big for spring (I say going to be because even though it’s technically spring, it doesn’t QUITE feel like it out there yet) and I’m not complaining about it one bit. I’ve always been a big lover of everything pastel. I love how soft and girly they are, and they always remind me of Easter eggs, flowers, pretty dresses, and everything I loved about this time of year as a child. Although pastels in general come around every springtime, this year there’s one colour that’s sticking out more than the others.. and that’s dusty blue. Everywhere I go, and every shop I enter I’m seeing dusty blue and I just can’t get enough of it. To me it almost looks like a pastel blue mixed with lavender, and it’s just oh so pretty.
I’ve already picked up a few dusty blue pieces as seen here thanks to Winners (aka. my kryptonite of a store) and I know I’m definitely going to be adding a few more pieces into my wardrobe before the season is over. The shirt was $50, and I fell in love with it right away. I love that the off the shoulder trend is sticking around, and I really like how this is a more structured version of the off the shoulder style. It’s quickly become my favourite shirt and I think I’ve already worn it a handful of times in the span of two weeks! Of course when I spotted this bag that couldn’t match it more perfectly – I just couldn’t resist. It was only $50 too!
The thing I love most about Winners (other than the fact that it’s like digging for treasure – and always feels just as rewarding) is everything is so affordable. It’s the one store I know I can get quality pieces to update my wardrobe without breaking the bank. Plus they always have such cute things! Their spring selection right now is so on point… and even better? They just opened up a location at One York Street. Literally within a two block radius of my condo. I don’t know if this is a really good thing or really bad (ok, just bad for my wallet lets be honest lol). By the way I spotted this top there today when I was checking out their store opening so if you’re wanting to snag it for yourself head over there ASAP, I doubt it’ll last long!
The last thing I wanted to quickly point out is the nail polish I’m wearing, which of course happens to be a dusty blue too. It’s Essie gel couture in “Once Upon a Time”, and I couldn’t be more in love with it (and the whole gel couture line to be honest!). I never thought I would be one to wear blue polish but there’s something so romantic and soft about this shade. I’ve always been the kind of gal who finds painting her nails more of a hassle than anything… but Essie gel couture lasts a minimum of 7 days without chipping which is totally worth the effort of applying it in my books! If you’re a lazy gal like me who doesn’t like the effort of painting your nails on the regular.. Essie gel couture is the polish for you!
Hope you enjoy this springtime outfit in my favourite colour of the moment! <3

As if I could take springtime outfit photos without flowers!

How pretty are these Violet & Brooks earrings?

My new favourite polish line – Essie Gel Couture. Aka a lazy girl’s nail polish dream.

In case you’re wondering where I took these pics – we snapped them in the CUTEST little refurbished vintage shop called “The Apartment” on the East end. Everything there is just so charming and oh so adorable. If you’ve never been – I highly recommend popping by sometime!
.
What colour can you not get enough of this spring? I would love to hear in the comments below! <3

With love,

Hi Kirsten, what beautiful photography. Can you tell me what lens was used and if you used flash fill?
Love your work!
Hi David, thanks so much! For these photos I believe I used a 45mm lens for my Olympus pen. Did not use flash fill, not even sure what that is!
Wonderful photo’s. You are so beautiful. The dusty blue definitely looks amazing on you! It does look dusty blue with a blend of lavender. The structured off the shoulder look is perfect! Your nail polish, earrings, and bag are a great finish for this incredible outfit. You have a natural touch for piecing together an outfit. Your content with your great photo’s, keeps a person interested all the way to the end. Thank You for taking the time to post these incredible blogs, and Thank You for getting me in the mood for spring………even though it does not look like spring……LOL!!!!!
