Now, onto the guide of the most instagrammable places in Montreal!
Most Instagrammable Places in Montreal – Old Montreal
Of course I have to start this guide of the best photo spots in Montreal with Old Montreal!
Although every corner of Montreal has instagrammable places, Old Montreal is the top spot that will really give you that old European vibe.
Some of my favourite photo spots are in Old Montreal.
1. Hotel Place D’Armes
Address: 55 Rue Saint-Jacques
We all have that place we return to in a city we love, that embodies everything we love most about that city and acts as a symbol and reminder of why we fell in love with that city in the first place.
The first trip I took to Montreal where I fell completely head over heels with this city, I stayed at the beautiful Hotel Place D’Armes.
Whenever I see the Hotel Place D’Armes I’m reminded of that trip, and just how quickly I grew to love it here.
But not only is Hotel Place D’Armes an incredible hotel to stay at (you can read all about my first stay there here!), it’s also definitely one of the most iconic Montreal Instagram spots.
2. Inside the Hotel Place D’Armes
Not only is the exterior of the Hotel Place D’Armes Old Montreal incredibly instagrammable, so is the interior as well!
Brasserie 701
Brasserie 701 is the french restaurant located on the main floor of the Hotel Place D’Armes.
Not only is this a great spot to dine, but the interior is beautiful making it one of the great instagrammable places in Montreal.
The Guest Rooms
If you have the chance to stay in this beautiful Montreal hotel during your visit, or even if you get the opportunity to plan a staycation here you quickly see how many great spots there are inside of the hotel!
My favourite guest rooms in the Hotel Place D’Armes (and in my opinion the most instagrammable) are the Classic King rooms.
If you have the chance to book yourself in one of these I highly recommend it!
You’ll have a beautiful corner view of the Place D’Armes below, as well as the most stunning black and white tiled bathroom.
There are lots of great instagrammable corners here!
You can check out the best rates for the Hotel Place D’Armes here!
3. Bank of Montreal in the Place D’Armes
Address: 119 Rue Saint Jacques
While you’re visiting the Hotel Place D’Armes, another great spot to take photos is just across the street!
Located on the edge of the Place D’Armes square, the Bank of Montreal is in a beautiful old building with large columns at the entrance.
There’s something about these beautiful columns that makes you think of ancient Greece, and I just love how they look in photos!
4. Cafe Olimpico
Address: 419 Rue Saint-Vincent
Another great Old Montreal spot that’s very popular with the local influencers is Cafe Olimpico.
It’s easily one of the most photographed cafes in Montreal!
By the way – I have a whole guide to instagrammable cafes in Montreal here that you should check out.
Cafe Olimpico is located in the heart of Old Montreal, in a beautiful stone building.
Although the exterior is quite simple, it really does give that old European vibe that’s just so aesthetic.
Grab yourself a coffee before heading outside to take some pictures.
The coffee is very good here!
5. La Grande Roue
Address: 362 Rue de la Commune E
La Grande Roue of Montreal is a Ferris wheel in the Old Port of Montreal.
It was built for the festivities for the 375th anniversary of the city, and has been open to the public since September 1, 2017.
Not only is La Grande Roue a great tourist attraction (get your tickets to ride it here, it’s incredible!), it’s also definitely one of the most popular Montreal instagram spots!
6. Musée du Chateau Ramezay
Address: 280 Notre-Dame St. East
The Château Ramezay is a museum and historic building on Notre-Dame Street in Old Montreal.
Visiting the museum is absolutely free, but just be warned that you cannot take professional photos outside.
The grounds however make for a great photo spot!
I just loved taking photos both in the front and back gardens of the Musée Chateau Ramezay.
Most Instagrammable Places in Montreal – Ville Marie
Although Old Montreal is technically part of the borough of Ville-Marie, I wanted to keep it separate as it really is a destination all on it’s own.
Ville-Marie is a borough in Montreal that comprises of the entirety of Downtown Montreal.
The rest of these Montreal photo spots are in downtown Montreal, but outside of Old Montreal.
7. Square Victoria OACI Station
Address: Square Victoria, Rue du Square-Victoria Montréal
If you’re looking for a little slice of Paris in Montreal (literally) this one is for you!
If you’ve been to Paris before you’ve probably seen subway entrances just like this one.
In fact, back in 1967 this subway entrance was gifted to Montréal as a token of thanks by the Régie autonome des transports parisiens (RATP).
The RATP gave this entrance to the Montréal métro to commemorate the involvement of Parisian engineers in its construction.
You can now find this entrance in Square Victoria and it really is a little slice of Paris here in Montréal!
It also happens to make a great Montreal photo spot don’t you think?
8. Bar George
Address: Le Mount Stephen, 1440 Drummond St
Bar George is hands down the most beautiful restaurant in Montreal (in my opinion) and it’s one of my favourite instagrammable places in Montreal!
Every corner of Bar George is just so grandiose and instagrammable.
Check out the TikTok video I made below to really get a sense of how incredible this Montreal restaurant is!
You’ll definitely want to make sure you book yourself in for a meal or at least a few cocktails at Bar George during your visit to Montreal.
And it’ll be a great opportunity to snap some pictures while you’re there!
9. Place de Chelsea
Address: Pl. de Chelsea
Place de Chelsea is a beautiful complex with even more beautiful homes.
Located in an affluent part of Ville-Marie, this spot in particular has been a favorite amongst local instagrammers and influencers.
Here you’ll find beautiful brick homes with window boxes full of flowers, and impressive little gardens.
Because this is private property, please be respectful if you plan on coming here to take photos as these are people’s homes.
Most Instagrammable Places in Montreal – Plateau-Mont-Royal
The Plateau of Montreal is considered the “french” area and is known to be a young, hip, and student friendly area.
Here you’ll find lots of charming townhouses, casual cafes, eateries, busy bars, and all sorts of galleries and theatres.
The borough of Plateau-Mont-Royal include areas such as the Plateau proper, Mile End, and Outremont among others.
10. Parc Lahaie
Address: Montreal, QC H2T 1R7
Parc Lahaie (Lahaie Park) is a beautiful park located in the plateau Mont Royal neighbourhood.
This is not only a super instagrammable park, but it’s a perfect place to come to just to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
The park sits in front of a beautiful church, and has a fountain that’s surrounded by lots of benches to sit and read, sip your coffee, or just enjoy people watching.
There are lots of different angles to shoot at Parc Lahaie, so it’s one of those great places you can come to and shoot content for multiple days in multiple outfits!
11. Wilensky’s Light Lunch Inc.
Address: 34 Avenue Fairmount O
Located just down the street from Parc Lahaie, Wilensky’s is somewhat of an institution in Montreal.
This classic, family-operated soda fountain & Jewish deli has been whipping up grilled sandwiches since 1932!
Snap a few pictures outside the iconic exterior before heading inside to grab lunch to go!
Pro Tip – Wilensky’s is most famous for its Special: a grilled salami-from-beef and bologna-from-beef sandwich with mustard on a kaiser roll, pressed flat from the grill. A must try when visiting Montreal!
12. Outremont Fountain
Address: 215 Avenue Bloomfield
My absolute favourite spot I’ve shot photos at so far in Montreal is hands down this fountain in Outremont.
Outremont is an affluent residential borough (arrondissement) that’s so incredibly beautiful.
I loved walking around this area and marvelling at all the gorgeous homes and shops.
You can easily see why I had to include this fountain on this list of the most instagrammable places in Montreal.
It’s so gorgeous and gives Secret Garden vibes.
You’ll likely be surprised to find out it’s actually on the side of a school too!
This fountain is actually located in the front of the building of École Nouvelle-Querbes, which is a primary school!
Be warned that if you are shooting there during the day on a weekday classes will be in session!
13. La Croissanterie Figaro
Address: 5200 Rue Hutchison
Another great photo spot located in Outremont and not far from the Outremont fountain, is La Croissanterie Figaro.
Known for many years for its warm and professional service, La Croissanterie Figaro is a vibrant cafe with an art deco interior & terrace that is best known for its handmade croissants.
(PS – I have a whole guide to Montreal’s most instagrammable cafes here!)
Trust me, you’ll definitely want to have a croissant here!
This french restaurant will make you feel like you stepped into a cafe in Paris, and is the perfect spot to get a Parisian aesthetic photo.
14. Mount Royal Lookout
There is no way that I could write a guide to the best photo spots in Montreal without including Mount Royal!
Majestically rising up in the middle of the city of Montreal, Mount Royal is a stunning place to visit for a nature escape in the city.
Especially beautiful during fall when all the leaves are changing colors, you can expect to find walking trails here, a lake (lac du castor), picnic spots, lots of recreational activities, entertainment, and the most incredible view of the Montreal skyline from the lookout.
If you’re visiting Montreal for just a short time, Mount Royal is definitely one spot you won’t want to miss!
15. St. Joseph’s Oratory
Address: 3800 Queen Mary Road
Not far from the Mount Royal lookout (it’s actually still located in the Mount Royal neighbourhood) is the stunning St. Joseph’s Oratory.
St. Joseph’s Oratory is a Roman Catholic minor basilica and national shrine dedicated to Saint Joseph.
Although it is a Catholic church and shrine, people of all religions (and non believers) come from all over to witness the beauty of St. Joseph’s Oratory.
Not only is the building itself incredible, the gardens are very beautiful too and you can witness some of the prettiest sunsets here!
Most Instagrammable Places in Montreal – Maisonneuve
The last borough we’ll be exploring on this list is the borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.
Although it’s a little out of the way to visit this area, I think it’s totally worth it.
The market is so beautiful and makes for a really amazing photo spot!
16. Marché Maisonneuve (Maisonneuve Market)
Address: 4445 Ontario Street East
Another great photo spot in Montreal that gives you all the old European vibes is Marché Maisonneuve.
The original Maisonneuve Market building dates back to 1912 and is an incredible Beaux-Arts style structure that makes for a perfect Montreal photo spot.
Here you’ll also find a beautiful fountain in front of the old Maisonneuve Market building that makes for another great photo spot.
Most Instagrammable Places in Montreal – Greater Montreal Area
These instagrammable places aren’t quite in Montreal proper, but they are in the greater Montreal area or within driving distance and are 100% worth visiting!
17. Westmount Public Library
Address: 4574 Rue Sherbrooke W
Another building with stunning architecture that makes for a great photo spot is the Westmount Public Library.
The Westmount Public Library is so grandiose and beautiful. It will you give you all the old Europe vibes for your instagram photos!
18. Quinn Family Orchard
Address: 2495 Bd Perrot, Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot
Although technically not in Montreal, visiting orchards during the fall is a favourite pass-time of Montrealites and if you have the chance while visiting you should definitely make the trip out to one of the orchards in the area!
La Ferme Quinn (Quinn Family Orchard) is not only a great place to visit for all the favourite fall activities, but it’s super cute and instagrammable.
19. Parc Omega
I honestly saved the best for last here because Parc Omega is not only super instagrammable but it’s an incredible experience any time of year.
Although it’s not located in Montreal, and is actually a 1.5 hour drive from Montreal, if you are visiting Montreal this experience is 100% worth planning the time to do.
Parc Omega is a beautiful drive through safari park that features all sorts of Canadian wildlife you can not only look at, but you can pet and feed!
Visiting Parc Omega is truly an unforgettable experience, and 100% worth the drive to Montebello.
Just imagine all the amazing photos you’ll get with the animals!
This was truly a fairytale moment for me.
Final Thoughts
