My skin has been needing an escape since winter got it’s cold and moisture sucking grip on it. What used to be soft and silky before winter had started resembling something similar in texture to crocodile, and I could feel my skin crying out for moisture and relief.
Ok, dramatics aside though this winter has really been rough on my skin. I’ve always been the kind of girl who rarely applies lotion (I know, GASP, what kind of girl am I?) because I have naturally soft skin. But this winter no matter what I do I have had dry patches and I’m pretty sure my legs could be used as sandpaper. Then Nivea came to the rescue, hallelujah!
I was sent the Nivea Smooth line a little over a month ago as a PR gift, and was promised that these products would take my skin on the much needed vacation from winter it needed. While I was skeptical at first, I put my faith in the products and committed to using them for a full month to really see what would happen. Well, it’s been a month of using these bad boys and I can honestly say my skin feels better than ever. Whether it’s because for the first time in my life I’m actually using lotion regularly, or because NIVEA is just that good (likely), here’s what I thought about the three products I tried!
Nivea Creme Smooth Body Wash
Nivea Creme Smooth Moisturizing Body Wash contains rich shea butter that is specifically formulated for dry skin. Developed with Nivea’s exclusive Hydra IQ Skin Technology, it promises to give your skin an intense, long-lasting moisturization with no greasy feel. I honestly wasn’t sure I would have anything great to say about the body wash because I’ve tried numerous body washes and I haven’t really noticed too big of a difference between brands. This was my first time trying Nivea and I have to say that it really was extremely moisturizing. The scent is very soft, non-offensive, and gender neutral (which I am positive my dad and brother will be more than happy to use when they visit over the usually extra-girly scented body washes I keep on hand). After using it my skin felt smooth and moisturized post-shower even before applying lotion.
Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion
Guys. This is the product that took the cake for me. If I could only choose one body lotion/cream to use for the rest of my life THIS WOULD BE IT. I am complete and utter crap at remembering (or just not being lazy) to put lotion on. I find it such a pain in the butt so I often skip it, plus I just hate having to apply cold lotion after a hot shower when it’s cold out. This lotion, because applied in shower goes on sooo easily. It honestly takes me 1 minute to slather it on my entire body, and after rinsing it off my skin feels smooth, silky, and like a baby’s bottom. I was super impressed when I tried it, and it has continued to impress me every time since. I was very skeptical about the whole “in shower” body lotions… Like how would a lotion work if you literally rinse it off? But it does and is such an incredible time saver. You don’t need to apply lotion after, and your skin feels smooth and soft for the rest of the day!
Nivea Smooth Irresistible Care Body Lotion
The last product in my Nivea arsenal this past month was the Nivea Smooth Irresistible Care Body Lotion. Made with Shea butter and Hydra IQ, it gave me noticeably softer skin and felt beautifully smooth on my skin. The scent is soft and gender neutral, and the lotion itself was very hydrating. Like any good lotion, it worked wonders on my skin. But as you know from this post I hate applying lotion so I was definitely in favor of the in-shower version! However – when I wasn’t lazy and actually took the time to apply this my skin felt great and moisturized all day. It definitely gives you a bang for your buck!
The Verdict
After using all three Nivea products for a month, I noticed huge differences in both how my skin looked and felt. My skin was no longer dry, itchy and rough, but instead was soft, smooth and silky. The Nivea Smooth line really transformed my skin in a month, and I started noticing changes within the first day. The best part is that the line is super affordable, so you don’t have to feel guilty for slathering it on every day and using generous amounts of the in shower body lotion while in the shower (guilty!). As I mentioned, my favourite was the in-shower body lotion which completely revolutionized the whole putting on lotion process for me. While I often forgot to put on the regular lotion, I religiously used the in shower body lotion at the end of my showers because it was just so easy to apply and not time consuming at all. Nivea truly rescued my skin, and I encourage you to take the challenge and commit to using Nivea for a month – your skin will thank you!
