It’s also one of the best times of the year for photoshoots.

Creative Spring Photoshoot Ideas
Here are some creative spring photoshoot ideas you can try out for your instagram!
1. Create a dreamy bed scene outdoors
This was one of my favourite photos I created last spring for my instagram.
I love how dreamy creating a bed scene outside looks!
If you don’t want to bring your bedding outside (which would be totally understandable) you can buy bedding at the thrift store and just use it for props!
That’s what I did and I’ve used the above duvet in SO many photos.
It was definitely worth the $15 I spent on it.
2. Set up a picnic scene
One of my all time favourite concepts (and they’re always the highest performing on instagram too) is picnic photos.
I’m not sure what it is, but people just love picnic shots!
Whether you create an elaborate picnic scene with tons of props, or something more simple with just a couple of items, these photos tend to do quite well.
3. Create a spring outdoor laundry photoshoot
I tried this spring photo idea for the first time last year and absolutely fell in love with the results.
It makes for such a pretty spring photoshoot idea don’t you think?
Grab yourself some twine and tie it up between two trees.
Then hang some pretty laundry out!
Whether you decide to hang up pretty spring dresses, lingerie, or even swimsuits, the result will be a gorgeous spring photo that’s sure to do well on your instagram.
4. Head to an orchard
Orchard’s during the spring time are so beautiful because the trees are all in bloom and full of pretty little flowers.
Because of this, orchards make for a really great spot to take spring photos.
A lot of orchards are private, so you will have to ask permission if that’s the case.
But people are generally quite nice if you ask!
5. Try shooting in a public garden
Chances are your city/town has a public garden space, so why not use it to get some really great photos?
Take advantage of these public spaces with extremely manicured lawns and incredible floral displays.
You will definitely be able to get some incredible spring photos!
6. Find a flower field
If you live in a smaller town or closer to the country (rather than right in a big city) chances are there are all sorts of flower fields scattered around.
These could either be flower fields that you have to pay to enter (like tulip fields, lavender fields etc.)
Or just areas with lots of wild natural flowers.
I’ve spent the last few springs in Kelowna in British Columbia, and I am always discovering spots with amazing patches of wildflowers that end up being great photo spots!
7. Go for a walk in the forest
The thing I love most about spring is that every day you’ll discover new flowers popping up in different corners.
A great place to go find photoshoot spots is in the forest!
Head for a walk in a nearby forest and you will likely find all sorts of great spots to take your spring photos.
8. Run away from the camera
I love photos that look like they were taken candidly.
Almost as if you are peeking into a private moment.
Running away from the camera is a great way to get that sort of look and feel in your photo, and makes for a dreamy end result.
Whether you run through a flower field or toward a cottage, you’ll love the way this turns out!
Spring Photoshoot Ideas using Flowers
Of course I had to start this post with spring picture ideas using flowers!
Although almost all of your spring photos will have flowers in them (that’s the whole idea of spring right?) these specific ideas use flowers as props.
9. Shoot portrait style photos with a flower bush or blooming tree
Spring (in my opinion) really is the most beautiful time of the year because of all the blooming flowers.
A super easy and beautiful way to really show off the flowers around you is to shoot portrait style (up close) with a flower bush or tree.
Shooting with a portrait lens allows you to not only focus in on a smaller space, but blur out the background if it’s not as perfectly scenic as you’d like so it’s perfect for backyard photography.
The best part about creating photos like these is you don’t need a big beautiful space or incredible garden, you just need one pretty blooming bush or tree because you will be shooting it so up close!
The best way to get photos like these are to shoot using a portrait lens on your camera, or you can even just use the portrait mode on your iphone!
10. Hold a bouquet of flowers
This is a classic but such an easy way to elevate your spring photos.
Grab yourself a bouquet of flowers (or even just a bunch of fake ones from the dollar store) and use those as a prop in your photos!
Such a simple little addition to your photo can really make the end result pop.
11. Hold a jug of flowers
Rather than just holding a bouquet of flowers, grab a bouquet and put it in a pretty jug!
I got this jug at a thrift store last year and used it in so many of my spring photos.
I just love how pretty and “cottagecore” it looks.
12. Hold a basket of flowers
Another great twist on the flower bouquet idea is to instead of holding a simple bouquet or using a jug, is to use a pretty basket!
I love how this looks because it gives the idea that you went out and picked the flowers yourself.
A great spot to find yourself some really cute cottagecore style baskets is at your local thrift shop.
13. Use a big sun hat as a prop
One of my absolute favourite props to shoot with during the spring time is a big sun hat.
Which I’m sure you’ve already noticed from all the photos in this guide with a sun hat!
Whether you wear the sun hat as a prop, hold it in your hand, or have it sitting down beside you, a giant sun hat is a great prop for your spring photos.
14. Glue/tape flowers to your face
Last spring I saw a lot of instagram creators either taping or gluing flowers to their face and the result was always fun, creative, and really pretty!
You can use any small flowers you like for this so get creative.
I love the way @hellomissjordan combined this with the mirror challenge in the above photo!
15. Make a flower top for a unique spring photoshoot idea
Another great spring photoshoot idea you can do using flowers is to pop a bouquet down your pants to make a flower top.
Sounds weird right? But the result is so pretty!
I took inspiration from Kylie Katich (above) and tried my own version of this.
I love how it turned out!
Whether you shoot this one outside or against a blank background like I did, the result is a very pretty spring photo.
16. Put flowers in your back pocket
Another idea you can do with flowers for your spring photos is to stick a bunch in your back pocket.
It’s such an easy photoshoot concept and the result is really cute!
17. Shadow play with plants/flowers for a neat & creative spring photoshoot idea
I touched a little on shadow play in this post on indoor photoshoot ideas to try at home and I just love the outdoor/spring version.
Grab yourself some flowers, plants, or leaves and hold them up in front of your face in the direct sunlight to get a shadow.
Spring Photoshoot Ideas using Props
Props are one of my favourite ways to create a story around my photos and really bring them to life.
Here’s some fun ways to make your spring photos pop by using props!
18. Create a dreamy scene with a book
Books are one of my favourite props to use when shooting both outdoors and indoors.
I’ve been posting a lot lately on my Instagram (you can follow me here!).
The photos end up looking so pretty!
You also don’t need a fancy old fashioned looking book to get this look.
All you have to do is take the shell off of one of your hardcover books like I did, and then the book will look way more “aesthetic” in your spring photos.
By the way, if you’re looking for some pretty and ultra affordable dresses for your next outdoor photoshoot check out this post on cheap cottagecore dresses!
19. Use a chair
Chairs can make easy but easily overlooked photoshoot props.
You can get super creative and use them the wrong way, lean against them, or set up a pretty scene like I did below.
Grab yourself a lawn chair and see what kind of creative poses or settings you can come up with for your spring pictures!
20. Use your bicycle as a fun spring photo prop
If you have a cute vintage looking bike they make such great photo props for your spring photos.
Set yourself up against a colourful wall like @saraevyandersson or head out to enjoy a little nature like @alexandratealeaf.
Bonus points if you have a little bike basket you can put some flowers in.
If you don’t have a colourful wall near you that’s no problem.
Set yourself up at a plain wall and photoshop any colour you want in after!
21. Bring a mirror outside
You’ve probably saw the mirror trend all over instagram last year.
Try adding a bunch of flowers around your mirror to make it a really pretty spring photo.
Grab any mirror, big or small, and try shooting from different angles with it.
I also think using a pretty vintage style mirror would make for a really gorgeous spring photo.
22. Use roller skates for a fun spring photography idea
Even something as simple as adding a pair of roller skates can make a photo more fun.
If you want to really jazz your photo up and make it even more on theme with spring, try popping some flowers into around your ankles.
I think this would make for such a pretty spring photo idea!
