About The Oliver & Osoyoos Regions
The Oliver & Osoyoos regions (which are right next to each other) are 2 hours south of Kelowna.
If you’re coming from Kelowna it is a bit of a drive but definitely worth it.
The Oliver and Osoyoos region has around 24 wineries you can visit.
Because the climate here is hotter than Kelowna (it’s more of a desert climate) red grapes thrive in this region.
The wineries here are known for making big bold reds, as opposed to the more white dominating wineries in the rest of the Okanagan.
If you love a big bold red, you’ll definitely want to make the trip to try out some of the many amazing Oliver & Osoyoos wineries.
Now, onto the list of some of the best wineries in Oliver & Osoyoos!
Even though these two regions are right next to each other, I’ve divided them by region to make planning your visit and winery route easier!
The Best Wineries in Oliver
If you’re heading to Oliver & Osoyoos from the Kelowna and Penticton areas, you will first reach the region of Oliver.
Here are the best wineries in Oliver that you have to visit during your time in this region (in no particular order).
Bartier Bros. Vineyard & Winery
Address: 4821 Ryegrass Rd, Oliver
Reservations: Book your Bartier Bros. tasting here
One of my all time favourite Oliver wineries is the beautiful Bartier Bros. Vineyard & Winery.
Bartier Bros. is the product of two brothers (the Bartier brothers, Don and Michael) who grew up in the beautiful Okanagan valley.
At Bartier Bros. you can quickly see (and taste) their passion for making incredible wines that are an expression of the valley.
The wines at Bartier Bros. are absolutely incredible, and there’s not a single one we didn’t enjoy.
My favourite was definitely the Orchard Row which has beautiful bright red fruit flavours and a long finish.
At Bartier Bros. you can enjoy a seated tasting at your own pace on the beautiful terrace surrounded by the vines.
And you can even do a seated wine tasting with cheese pairings which we did which which was such an incredible experience.
The carefully selected and locally made cheeses were each paired beautifully with one of Bartier Bros. delicious wines, and made for an excellent tasting experience.
They also have a pizza truck from Woodwood Pizzeria on Wednesdays at lunch time, and offer the opportunity to enjoy a delicious pizza lunch while enjoying their wines.
If you are visiting Oliver this is one winery you definitely don’t want to miss!
Covert Farms Family Estate – Best Family Friendly Winery!
Address: 300 Covert Pl, Oliver
Reservations: Book your tasting at Cover Farms Family Estate here
Covert Farms Family Estate is hands down the best family friendly winery on this list to the best wineries in Oliver!
What makes them so family friendly?
They have turned their winery and farm not only into a beautiful tasting experience, but the farm is full of fun activities and experiences to keep little ones busy while the adults enjoy their wine!
In the summer there is a slip and slide, a giant jumping pillow, animal petting areas and so much more more.
They even offer mini kids farm tours that end with a juice tasting (featuring both a red and white juice) as well as a mini charcuterie for kids to enjoy alongside their parents!
Covert Farms also offers live music on Sundays, picnics, and has a taco stand with new tacos being offered every week.
We did the 1 hour epicurean grand reserve tasting at Covert Farms which had us tasting their delicious wines alongside an incredible cheese and charcuterie board featuring fresh veggies straight from the farm.
It was absolutely delicious!
If you’re looking for a great winery to spend the afternoon at with the whole family, this is definitely it.
Red Horses Vineyard
Address: 365 Zinfandel Ave, Oliver
Reservations: No need for reservations
There are numerous reasons why Red Horses Vineyard is on this list of the best Oliver wineries.
This small family owned winery is brand new to the area, and has had their tasting room open for only 2 years!
But just because they’re new doesn’t mean their wines aren’t amazing.
The second you step foot into Red Horses Vineyard you’ll quickly see the passion this family has not only for creating great wines, but for the south.
Run by three generations, this colorful winery will truly make you feel like you are no longer in Canada.
Although I liked all of their wines, my favourite was definitely the RunAway Rose.
Make sure you try it while you’re visiting Red Horses!
Black Hills Estate Winery
Address: 4190 Black Sage Rd, Oliver
Reservations: Book your tasting experience at Black Hills Estate Winery here
Did you ever think you’d get the opportunity to taste wines poolside at a beautiful winery?
Black Hills Estate Winery offers just that!
This unique tasting experience is like a little slice of vacation in a winery.
There’s something about a beautiful setting that makes wine tasting that much better and feel more like an incredible and exclusive experience.
Beyond a stunning setting though, the wineries at Black Hills Estate Winery are top knotch.
Black Hills Estate Winery vineyards have some of the most favourable grape growing conditions in the country, resulting in exceptional terroir and incredible wines.
They specialize in creating some of the most beautiful Bordeaux and Rhone style varietals, and there’s no surprise why Black Hills is so critically acclaimed.
Fun fact: Their vineyards were the first real French grape varietal growing area in the whole region!
By the way – don’t miss out on their Chardonnay, it’s exceptional!
Nostalgia Wines (Formerly Oliver Twist Estate Winery)
Address: 398 Lupine Ln, Oliver
Reservations: Book your tasting at Nostalgia Wines here
Where do I even start with this gorgeous little Oliver winery?
Nostalgia Wines (formerly known as Oliver Twist Estate Winery) is a female-owned and managed business led by Gina Fernandes Harfman.
She is not only the owner, but also the winemaker and fourth generation South Okanagan family farmer.
Think that’s awesome? She also employs an all female staff!
Hows that for women making waves in the wine industry?
At Nostalgia Wines you’ll get a unique Okanagan winery experience while providing a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
You’ll love the fun and seductive Pin-Up series which features retro-cool paintings by artist Ralph Burch.
These fun labels are a nod to Gina’s previous career pin-striping and air brushing classic cars, hot rods, and motorbikes.
At Nostalgia Wines, not only can you enjoy a tasting of their incredible wines, but they also have a picnic area which makes for a great place to relax the afternoon away.
Enjoy your picnic with a bottle of one of Nostalgia’s award winning wines while taking in amazing views of the desert hills, vineyards, and orchards.
Road 13 Vineyard
Address: 799 Ponderosa Rd, Oliver
Reservations: Book your tasting experience at Road 13 Vineyards here
Road 13 Vineyards is an award winning winery in Oliver, BC.
It won #1 Winery in Canada in 2018 which is pretty impressive!
They also have some pretty amazing wines.
Stop into the tasting room at Road 13 Vineyards and get a free tasting of their wine of the day.
It’s important to note that unfortunately, since my last visit they’ve done some renovations and the tasting room is no longer a castle.
Expect Road 13 Vineyards to have a fresh new look when you visit!
But just because the castle is no more (*sob*) doesn’t mean that their wines aren’t just as incredible.
Road 13 Vineyards also offers the ability to add a charcuterie board to your tasting experience!
This curated board for two features locally sourced fare and is a great add on to your tasting experience which you can enjoy overlooking the vineyard.
Platinum Bench Estate Winery & Artisian Bread Co – Oliver BC
Address: 4120 Black Sage Rd, Oliver
Reservations: Book your tasting at Platinum Bench here
While I didn’t actually take any photos at Platinum Bench (it was pretty busy) this winery was DEFINITELY worth mentioning on this list.
Not only do they have amazing wines, but they also sell the BEST homemade sourdough breads that they pair with the wines during their wine tastings.
Every wine you taste is carefully paired with a unique sourdough (such as Double Cream Brie and Pear or Gorgonzola and Fig *drool*) that makes for an explosion in your mouth.
They hand bake around 300 loaves of bread each day which they set aside some for tasting and sell the rest (which usually sell out by noon).
Come here early because I will guarantee you are definitely going to want to go home with some of their amazing sourdough!
The Best Wineries in Osoyoos
After exploring the region of Oliver and driving further south, you’ll hit beautiful Osoyoos.
Here are the best wineries in Osoyoos!
Moon Curser Vineyards
Address: 3628 BC-3, Osoyoos
Reservations: Book your tasting at Moon Curser Vineyards here
Moon Curser Vineyards came highly recommended to me, and after tasting their wines its no surprise why!
Named after moonlight-evading gold rush smugglers, Moon Curser loves playing around with and testing unique varietals that aren’t typical to the region.
Expect to see unique varietals like Tannat, Dolcetto, and Touriga Nacional.
The winemaker Christian has a serious knack for making incredible wines from unique grapes, and we loved every single wine tried.
But don’t just take it from me!
Moon Curser Vineyards was named one best performing small winery at the 2019 Wine Align National Wine Awards of Canada.
We did the private winemaker tour & tasting with Christian, and it was such an incredible experience.
Moon Curser quickly became one of our favourite Okanagan wineries!
This is hands down one of the best wineries in Oliver & Osoyoos!
Nk’Mip Cellars
Address: 1400 Rancher Creek Rd, Osoyoos
Reservations: Reserve your tasting at Nk’Mip Cellars here
Another absolutely incredible Osoyoos winery is Nk’Mip Cellars.
Nk’Mip Cellars (pronounced Inkameep) was the first Indigenous owned winery in North America and it definitely knocked my socks off.
Although I loved every wine I tasted, my favourites were the 100% Oaked Chardonnay, the Pinot Noir, and Talon (the biggest and boldest of the reds).
For basic tastings Nk’Mip offers their Winemaker’s series tasting flight for just $5.
They also offer a Premium series flight for $15.
Beyond that they also offer a whole host of unique and elevated tasting experiences including a private grotto tasting experience, the four food chiefs food and wine tasting experience, elements dinner, and an enhanced wine tasting experience.
You can reserve any of those enhanced experiences at Nk’Mip here!
Adega on 45th Estate Winery – Osoyoos BC
Address: 7311 45 St, Osoyoos
Reservations: Reservations not required
Inspired by the wineries of Portugal, Adega on 45th features a beautiful sprawling vila-style tasting room with a large patio and a panoramic view of Osoyoos.
This Osoyoos BC Winery is family owned and operated!
Their wines & ports are exceptional and will transport you to Portugal.
They also have a deli cooler available for picnics on the patio which is the perfect way to relax, unwind, and take in the stunning scenery.
While you’re at Adega on 45th Estate winery in Osoyoos make sure you try both Felicidade and Manuel.
These are the wines that are named after the owners parents who started the vineyard many year ago.
Oh and by the way – wine tastings are complimentary here!
La Stella Winery
Address: 8123 148 Ave, Osoyoos
Reservations: Book your tasting experience at La Stella Winery here
La Stella Winery, located on the east bench of Osoyoos Lake was created to capture the vision of La Dolce Vita: fine food, wonderful wine, great music, and the good things in life.
If that mission statement doesn’t send you running for La Stella Winery in Osoyoos BC I don’t know what will! I’m all for living la Dolce Vita and I definitely think they did a perfect job capturing it.
Each of their wines are named after Italian music notes – by the way definitely try the Fortissimo if you can.. there’s a reason why it’s a gold medal winner.
Final Thoughts
The Okanagan Valley has some pretty amazing wineries, and it is definitely worth doing day trips to get out to different areas.
You’ll find that due to climate and terroir wineries in different areas have very different styles of wines and no two are the same.
If you’re ever in the Okanagan Valley make sure you get out to the Oliver & Osoyoos region to experience these amazing wineries, I’ve made the above for easy Pinterest saving so you can access this post next time you plan to be int he area.

Hi Carolyn, I hope you enjoy your day in Oliver & Osoyoos! I definitely recommend both wineries, but especially make sure you visit Road 13 as I've heard its now under new ownership and they will be getting rid of the castle soon. So sad! You're lucky you get the chance to visit before that happens :)
