The beginning of September is a bittersweet time of year for me. I’m always excited because my birthday is just around the corner, but sad because I know that the last few days of summer are upon us. I feel like every year I sit through winter dreaming of the hot summer months, and when they’re finally here I blink and they’re already coming to an end. This year I think I’ve been dreading September just a little bit more than usual because with each September I’m getting closer and closer to 30 and that idea absolutely terrifies me. I remember being in elementary school and thinking 30 year olds were SO old. And here I am almost there and I still text my mom on the regular asking questions like how to poach an egg properly or how not to kill my plants. How is it possible that I’m turning 28 on Saturday but I still feel like I’m (a much more mature version hopefully) 23 on the inside?
While I am sad summer is slowly coming to an end and terrified that I’m definitely not getting any younger.. September in itself is an exciting month. With September comes TIFF.. the most exciting time in Toronto for us budding young actors and filmmakers. For us, this is the time of year the city really comes alive. With September also comes Fall.. and with Fall comes some of my favourite things. Fall in Toronto is a beautiful time of year. The leaves slowly change colours but stay on the trees for weeks in bright reds, oranges and yellows. The weather stays warm enough that you can sit on a patio while you enjoy your coffee and a pumpkin macaron.. and everything looks just that much more beautiful, warm, and golden. With fall comes the best fashion, some of the most fun holidays and feasts (I’m looking at you Halloween & Thanksgiving), and of course.. pumpkin spice everything. So cheers to you September… after all, 28 can’t be that bad can it?
