As you might know, Selkie is a luxury, size inclusive brand that’s all about everything romantic, whimsical, fanciful and nostalgic.
In fact, Selkie prides themselves on not only being size, gender, and age inclusive, but they also use models of all kinds on their website and in their runway shows.
They are definitely most known for their dresses, but Selkie does offer so much more.
Created by Kimberley Gordon, Selkie has grown a cult like following that’s taken over social media over the last few years.
The brand started out with colorful sweats, and earned its cult following when it released the original Selkie puff dress.
If there’s one Selkie dress you’ve probably seen all over your feeds, it’s definitely the Selkie puff dress!
Since then the brand has expanded to offer everything from dresses to coats, gowns, and even purses and accessories.
Selkie is constantly releasing new styles that are getting more fun and whimsical by the year, but they are also low waste.

Here I’ll discuss the price, styles, fit, sizing, quality and shipping.

Overall Thoughts on Selkie Dresses
I’ve already mentioned that I’m a big fan of Selkie now, and that I really love all of my Selkie dresses.
But it’s not just that I love my Selkie dresses.
Every time I wear any of my Selkie dresses in public, I get so many compliments from strangers.
Like, more than I ever get with literally any other outfits I wear.
They really are show-stopping dresses that will make you feel like a princess, goddess, queen, or whatever fabulous siren you are hoping to look like.
If you are looking for a dress that you will feel great in, love and cherish for years to come, that’s exactly what Selkie is.
This isn’t going to be a dress you wear a couple of times and never look at again.
I firmly believe Selkie dresses are something us owners will cherish for years to come.

Price
Selkie is definitely considered a higher end or “luxury brand”.
The prices are not attainable for everyone, and for most of us they are more of a special occasion or one time thing kind of purchase.
While I’m not the kind of person who would normally shell out $300+ on any old dress, there’s something about a Selkie dress that’s really special and I know I’ll treasure mine for years to come.
Although I will discuss quality later, I do think that for what you get, Selkie dresses are priced fairly.
They’re truly showstopping, special pieces that are meant to be loved and to make you feel incredible when you wear them.
And something to keep in mind, although Selkie dresses make great special occasion dresses, the more you wear yours the lower your cost per wear is, which makes it a lot more worth it.
I try to get as much use of out my Selkie dresses as I can and make it a habit to dress up just because!
After all, why is it that we leave our favourite things (best china, favourite perfume etc.) on the shelves to gather dust and only use them on special occasions?
I’d rather use my favourite things until they’re not useable anymore!

Although Selkie’s claim to fame was the Selkie puff dress, they now have so many romantic and whimsical styles to choose from.
Whether you’re looking for something a little fancier like their stunning gowns or bridal dresses, want a classic puff or french puff style dress for a cocktail event or birthday, or want a more casual day dress, Selkie has something for everyone.

I’ve been loving all the different styles of Selkie dresses that have been coming out lately.
There really is a Selkie dress for every occasion.
And this is going to lead into the next point, but there really is also a Selkie dress for every body type which is something really important to highlight.
Sizing
Selkie dresses look great on all shapes and sizes!
This is probably the most important point that I really want to emphasize.
Selkie prides themselves on being incredibly size inclusive.
Not only do they offer their dresses in sizes ranging from XXS – 6X, but they have different styles that appeal to different body types.
Maybe you want to highlight your waist? – There’s a Selkie dress for that.
Want to hide your belly? – There’s a Selkie dress for that.
Whatever it is you need to feel your absolute most confident self, there is a Selkie dress for that.
It’s really one of the main reasons I love Selkie so much.
I’ve truly never felt as beautiful as I do when I put on a Selkie dress.
Fit
A big concern with shopping online is always the sizing, especially when you’re spending so much money!
Selkie’s size guides are very true to their dress sizes so as long as you take your measurements and follow the size guide for the dress you are looking at, you will have no problems.

All 3 dresses I’ve gotten have all fit me perfect and I made sure to double check all measurements.
They are also all mediums and I usually wear a medium so I would say they are pretty true to size!
Quality
I’m sure this is one of the points in this Selkie dress review that most of you have been wondering about.
I’ve been very impressed with the quality of all 3 of my Selkie dresses.
You definitely get what you pay for!
It’s clear Selkie dresses are built to last, and they truly both look and feel like high end, quality dresses.
I know it might be tempting to purchase a Selkie dupe off of a website like Shein or Amazon, but I can guarantee it really won’t compare.
The fit won’t be right.
They won’t be as puffy.
And they just won’t look the same!
In my opinion, Selkie dresses are fairly priced considering their quality and really are 100% worth it.

Shipping
I’m sure by now you’ve been wondering if I’m getting paid to write this review because I’ve said absolutely nothing negative (I’m not).
Well, here it is.
In my opinion, the only downside to ordering a Selkie dress from Selkie (if you’re from Canada) is dealing with the shipping duties.
Shipping is the one area I do think Selkie can improve, at least when it comes to shipping to Canada.
While I can’t speak to other countries (I believe shipping within the US is easy and fast), you will have to expect to pay duties on your Selkie order when shipping to Canada.
This is definitely something you will want to factor in when making your purchase, and be aware of in advance.
I’ve heard of some people ordering them to friends or family’s homes who live in the US instead to save on duties so that is always an option.
I do hope one day this will change for us Canadians, but for now just keep this in mind when budgeting for your first Selkie purchase!
