From Left to Right:
Kérastase Chronologiste Revitalizing Exfoliating Care Rinse-out Pre-Shampoo, Kérastase Chronologiste Crème de Regeneration, Kérastase Chronologiste Revitalizing Shampoo
I generally keep my haircare regime pretty simple. I never dye my hair, I only get it trimmed every 6-8 weeks (if I remember.. which I often fail at miserably!!), and I have always just used drugstore shampoo & conditioners. I know. How sad is that right? So you can imagine how excited I was to get the opportunity to try the Kérastase Chronologiste line. I knew my hair was in for a real treat. But were the benefits going to justify the $50.00-$70.00 price tag for each of these products? Read on to find out…
The simple answer to that question is YES. Since the first time I used these products my hair has felt absolutely amazing, and it has continued to get better and better with each wash. After blow-drying my hair looks and feels like I just left the salon. It’s super shiny and soft as silk. It’s less frizzy, and I find I don’t have to use a hair straightener at all (I usually use one just to reduce frizz at the top of my hair). I am absolutely loving what these products are doing for my hair! Although they are pricey I would highly recommend investing in them. The products are so potent that you only have to use a small amount with each wash so the bottles are lasting me a lot longer than drugstore shampoos. The only down side I have found is that my hair is so soft and silky that it doesn’t hold curls as well. When I know I want to curl my hair I’ve found that if I skip the conditioning cream (Crème de Regeneration) it helps with the hold of the curls.
A little more about each product:
Step 1: Kérastase Chronologiste Revitalizing Exfoliating Care Rinse-out Pre- Shampoo
A pre-shampoo? What the heck is that? That’s exactly what I thought when I first got this bottle. I thought the only thing you did pre-shampoo was wet your hair. Kérastase has quickly changed my opinion on the matter. The pre-shampoo is a luxurious detoxifying and purifiying scalp and fiber treatment for all hair types. It activates and stimulates the scalp to boost ingredients’ efficacy. Basically, it multiplies the effects of the subsequent treatments, from the shampoo to the final touch by preparing the scalp and hair to better absorb the nutrients you are giving it. You massage a small amount of the pre-shampoo into your scalp to help prepare it for shampooing. Think of it as giving yourself a mini scalp massage in the shower. The more you massage it in the better. Did I mention it comes in a glittery gold flecked gel? Something about massaging gold sparkles into my scalp is just oh so appealing.
Step 2: Kérastase Chronologiste Revitalizing Shampoo
This cleanser provides perfect fluidity and nutrition, enveloping the hair for ultimate suppleness and softness. Its purifying action cleanses scalp impurities as it smoothes the hair fiber, for an unequalled velvet touch. Before trying this shampoo I honestly didn’t think I would be that impressed. I mean how impressive could a shampoo really be? I was wrong. This shampoo is amazing! It is such an effective shampoo that you really only need to use a dime sized drop each wash. I have been using this shampoo for about a month and have only been through about 1/8th of the bottle. I know one of the main indicators we all use to tell if we’ve shampooed our hair enough is how much the shampoo suds up. This shampoo suds up with such a small amount, it was really surprising! I’m sure the pre-shampoo plays a little bit into this as well. My hair felt amazingly clean after and super soft to the touch. This is the best shampoo I’ve ever used on my hair, hands down. If I’m planning on curling my hair that day I usually end my shower hair-care routine here, otherwise on to step 3!
Step 3: Kérastase Chronologiste Crème de Regeneration
This is the crème de la crème of Kérastase masks. This product concentrates the greatest number of active ingredients, formulated in their highest concentrations, to intensely nourish the hair from scalp to ends. Hair is left replenished and softened, with a smoothed hair fiber and a revitalized scalp. Just like with the shampoo, a small amount of this product goes a long way. I apply a small amount of from the middle of my hair shaft to the ends, and let it sit for a couple minutes. The conditioner is so highly concentrated that I don’t bother using it on my roots, I only use it on the driest parts of my hair. I do this not only to make the product last longer, but I find if you condition your roots they will get “greasy” looking quicker. Nobody wants that! After rinsing the conditioner out, the ends of my hair feel extremely soft. I have honestly never had such soft hair as I have had using this conditioning cream!
Overall thoughts: This Chronologiste line is absolutely worth the small splurge. Not only do they make your hair look and feel amazing, but they last a long time too. Don’t be scared off by the price tag, you will get a lot more uses out of these products than you will the average drugstore brand. I can promise you that after blow-drying you will have the softest, shiniest, most touchable hair you’ve ever had. I can honestly say people have noticed the difference in how shiny and healthy my hair looks. I will never go back to drugstore brands again!
