Being known for it’s sprawling beaches, colorful art-deco architecture, exciting nightlife, beach clubs, and miles of cafes, shops and bars makes South Beach the place to be in Miami for those looking for a bit of a Vegas-esque beach vacation. I knew when heading to Miami that we were going to be car-less and relying on Ubers so we definitely wanted to stay in South Beach. South Beach has such a high concentration of things to see and do in a small area, and it’s easy to get around on foot. But one thing we did learn is that the heart of South Beach and Ocean drive can be a lot to handle for those that are looking for a little more of a relaxing vacation. Our first hotel during this trip was right in the thick of party central and man did we every struggle those first two nights. Luckily though our last two nights of the trip were spent at the beautiful Marriott Stanton South Beach which turned out to be the answer to all of our prayers and the solution we needed to enjoy the fun of South Beach but also be able to relax and escape the chaos.
From the location to the pool to the food, here’s why you should definitely think about staying with Marriott Stanton South Beach during your next Miami visit!

Location
South Beach is a great place to visit during the day and evenings, but gets quite rowdy at night which makes it difficult to fall asleep.. it truly is a city that never sleeps! However there are a few neighbourhoods in South Beach that offer tranquility and an escape from the hustle and bustle…
Low and behold the South of Fifth Neighbourhood and the beautiful Marriott Stanton South Beach which became our perfect escape away from the South Beach madness. Nestled in the south end of South Beach, South of Fifth (also known as SOFI) is a small exclusive and affluent neighbourhood that stretches from Fifth to South Pointe Beach Park. We absolutely loved our stay at the Marriott Stanton South Beach because of it’s perfect location and quieter atmosphere. It backs right onto South Pointe Beach which has the highest concentration of lifeguard towers (amazing spots to shoot!) and is only a few blocks walk from the centre of the action. If you’re looking for the perfect place to stay that offers a peaceful escape but allows you to visit the busier parts of South beach without having to grab an Uber the Marriott Stanton South Beach should definitely be your go-to spot!
The Food
I feel like the food at the Marriott Stanton South Beach deserves a whole blog post of it’s own it was so good! During our stay we got to experience both of the Marriott’s amazing in house restaurants, Lolo’s Surf Cantina and Azabu. I just want to point out to start things off that The Marriott offers all of it’s guest a complimentary margarita at Lolo’s after checking in, which was an amazing way to start off our stay there!
Lolo’s Surf Cantina
Lolo’s Surf Cantina is a casual Mexican restaurant with a fun and laid back vibe that was voted best tacos in Miami in 2017 by Miami New Times. We loved the vibe at Lolo’s and spent time there every day during our stay. They have an amazing happy hour menu that included $4 glasses of rose and a great small bites menu.. and the only hitch was that you had to sit in the lounge! Zero complaints here!
We had the most AMAZING dinner at Lolo’s our first night there which included chips and guac, their impossible taco pizza which is made with Impossible Vegan meat and cauliflower crust (literally tasted just like regular taco pizza and we both kept saying OMG as we ate), fish tacos, and the best churros we have ever had in our lives. Seriously, these churros were crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth soft on the inside. We both left happy, full, and couldn’t stop raving about how good the food was.
Azabu
Azabu is a Japanese restaurant located in the Marriott Stanton South Beach that was voted Best Japanese in 2018 by Miami Times and there’s definitely no denying why. Our dinner at Azabu was hands down the best Japanese food I have ever had. Every course was better than the next and we couldn’t stop eating even when we were full to the brim! Some of my favourite dishes at Azabu were the Lobster tempura, the tuna pizza, Azabu house salad and the king crab fried rice… but to be honest every single dish we had was amazing and it was probably the best Japanese food I’ve ever eaten!
The Pool and Beach
If you’re planning a trip to Miami chances are you definitely have plans to spend at least some of the time laying out in the sun. Whether you’re more of a beach person or prefer lounging by a pool, with the Marriott Stanton you really don’t have to pick between the two as they’ve got an amazing pool that literally backs onto the beach. You can spend your morning laying out on the beach and head back to the pool for a poolside lunch and afternoon cocktails.
Can you spot the ocean behind the hedges?
The Rooms
As soon as we stepped into our room at the Marriott Stanton South beach we knew we were going to feel right at home. The rooms are light, bright & airy plus spacious beyond belief. Beyond that our room had 2 patios
(a larger and smaller one) both with amazing views that were the perfect spot to sit back, relax and enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day. The rooms are equipped with everything you need including a fridge (that actually had space to put stuff in – unlike some hotels!), Nespresso machine, desk, tv, and multiple wall outlets which was a bonus for us. I always find hotel rooms never have enough outlets for two travellers to charge all their devices plus get ready in the morning.. that wasn’t an issue at the Marriott!

The Staff
Beyond all the incredible amenities the Marriott Stanton South Beach has to offer I just wanted to touch on how incredible the staff was during our stay. They were so attentive and friendly, provided us with excellent recommendations, turn down service, and gave us bottles of water every time we left the hotel to explore… and of course welcome margaritas! Speaking of that – the Marriott has bicycles you can use during your stay which are perfect for riding along the boardwalk! Just ask the front dest when you visit 🙂
We had such an amazing stay in South Beach and we definitely have the Marriott to thank for that. If you’re planning a trip to Miami anytime soon I definitely recommend checking out the Marriott Stanton South Beach. If you need any recommendations for Miami feel free to reach out!

Hmmm, they must have known you were writing this article. This was not our experience at all. Our room was nice, but it was over all the A/C units below which was very loud. In addition our toilet got clogged and it took them over 12 hours to fix, after many phone calls. No staff to fix anything at night!! As for Lolo’s, yes the taco’s were good. However, breakfast was outrageously expensive! Husband had to order 2 meals to get 2 eggs (served cold) with bacon & pancakes. They refused to serve a single side order of 1 pancake. My omelette had to be remade because my spinach & ham had exactly 2 spinach leaf & a teaspoon of diced ham. They added more spinach & ham on second try. That said, I will agree the beach and pool areas are beautiful. In addition, management did comp our breakfast of $100. Even the manager said “Wow, that was expensive”. Please not we only had a single Mimosa.

So sorry to hear that your experience was so different than mine! I visited about 3 years ago and so it is very possible things may be a bit different now. I am surprised they didn't just switch you rooms with so many issues - we had no issues in our room when we visited including with the AC. I can't speak to the breakfast there as we didn't eat at the resort for breakfast. Unfortunately sometimes people have differing experiences, but I hope yours was a fluke and not the norm now!

Actually a pretty dumpy hotel for a very high price. I stayed there in May 2022 because they used to have a lounge for elite guests. They closed the lounge with the excuse that they are a Marriott “Resort” property. As a Marriott lifetime elite member I would stay at a few of the other Marriott properties instead. Or better yet stay at the Loews or the One Hotel. This is a wildly overpriced hotel. The day beds face the hotel, not the pool and the deck needs redoing.
